Project Description

The DBAR ICoE–Bangkok Strategic Development Plan (2024–2026) strengthens Thailand’s capacity in SDG data assessment through big data and Earth observation. The project promotes evidence-based policymaking, provincial-level SDG evaluation, and regional collaboration within the Digital Belt and Road network, supported by NRCT.

Project Objectives:

– Attain a comprehensive understanding of data availability in Thailand through critical review of international, regional, and local open-sourced data products

– Identify and fill crucial data gaps by utilizing Earth Observation-based big data products in Thailand.

– Propose a framework with applicable indicators for provincial-level SDG progress assessment in Thailand.

– Conduct multi-dimensional (i.e., spatial, temporal, and featural) assessments of SDG progress in Thailand at the provincial scale.

– Provide an integrated rating of SDG progress in Thailand at the provincial level.

– Enhance application and regional engagement in SDG assessment in ASEAN.

This project represents a collaboration between the AIT Belt and Road Research Center, Mahidol University, the Digital Belt and Road Program (DBAR), the International Research Center of Big Data for Sustainable Development Goals (CBAS), the Chinese Academy of Data and Analysis (CADA), and the National Research Council of Thailand (NRCT).
