From April 8th to April 13th, 2024 – Belt and Road Center of Asian Institute of Technology participated in the “Thailand- China Energy Transition Green Chongqing Trip” organized by AIT’s collaborator, Chongqing Renewable Energy Society. Ms. Sai Tang, Program Officer of BRRC attended the event. The 6 days visiting and exchange trip in Chongqing mainly focusing on the topic of strengthening scientific and technological exchanges between China and Thailand to jointly address the issue of climate change and to actively promote international cooperation in Lancang-Mekong region. There were 10 energy and environment experts from 8 think tanks, universities, and enterprises from Thailand in the visiting trip, including the United Charitable Foundation of Thailand, the Belt and Road Center of the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT), the Coastal Livelihoods and Environment Action Network (CLAAN), the Thailand Environment Institute Foundation (TEIF), the Thailand Climate Finance Network (TCFN), EPIGTRAM, the Association for Local Development (ALD), and Sustainable Bioenergy Co.


Activities include Sino-Thai Social Organization Symposium between the visiting group from Thailand and 9 Chinese social organizations from Chongqing, Sichuan, Yunnan, Beijing, and Shaanxi on the first day focusing on topics of Energy Transition and Carbon Neutrality, Air Management and Green Factories, Ecotourism and Nature Conservation. In-depth dialogue exchange and panel discussions on the above topics were conducted.


Visiting trips to lean about the green industries in local Congqing were carried out, including Chongqing Pingchuang Digital Energy Technology Co.( Charging Piles and Energy Storage Devices), Chongqing Qihang Aviation Technology Service CO.(Drone Application in Environment & Agriculture), Chongqing Panasia Holding CO.(Environmental Monitoring), the green agriculture and green economy in the suburban areas of Dashun Town, Fulin District, Chongqing(Shengtai Fragrant Agriculture Technology Co., Ltd., Tiantong Ecological Agriculture Co., Ltd., Hehe Lakeside Camping Base and Qianqiu Keng farmland, Dashun Village traditional pollution-free village preservation and utilization, rice processing factory in XinXing Village on comprehensive resource utilization).


Interaction and academic communications with young entrepreneurs and young scientists in the Chinese energy sector were also conducted. Experts from the Youth Work Committee of the China Energy Research Society including Dr. Tang Bo (Chongqing Jinyu Cloud Energy Technology Co., Ltd.), Dr. Chen Hongsheng (Harbin Institute of Technology (Shenzhen)), Dr. Li Boyan (Beijing Institute of Low Carbon Clean Energy), Dr. Yuan Bo (State Grid Energy Research Institute Co., Ltd.), Dr. Wang Bin (Tsinghua University), Dr. Xia Ao(Chongqing University), and Mr. Liu Chonghan, General Manager of Chongqing Guohan Energy CO. were in the communication on topics of entrepreneurship in building charging piles, the application of biomass energy, Digital technology promoting renewable applications, Public participation in energy transition, Energy transition and the design of green development projects by social organizations.


Communications were also conducted with Chongqing University of Science and Technology on Waste Incineration and Resource Recycling, especially the recycling technologies for urban organic waste, scrap metals and renewable energy. Experience exchange on ecological conservation and green urban city building were carried out with 10 representatives from Chongqing Luhai International Communication Foundation and 6 other ecological conservation organizations.
