On November 28th, 2023 – A delegation from Beijing Normal University Belt and Road School led by Assistant Professor Dr. Sha Fan, visited AIT Belt and Road Research Center. Assistant Professor Dr. Biwei Chen, Post-Doc researcher Dr. Anxin Zhao, Ph.D candidates Mr. Jincheg Li, Ms. Yiling Zhang and Ms. Jingyu Song, were in the visiting group.


A preliminary communication between BNU Belt and Road School and AIT BRRC was conducted. Introductions of how the two Belt and Road Institutions in BNU and AIT respectively have been engaging in researches and works under the Belt and Road Initiative have been made. The two Belt and Road institutions have different focuses and complementary strengths in past work, both have been enthusiastically devoting to BRI. The discussions mainly focused on how to combine the strengths of the two institutions to enhance Belt and Road works and utilizing the combined strengths to promote reginal economic innovation and development.

BRRC coordinated a research trip for the BNU Belt and Road School group to China State Construction Engineering (Thailand) Co., Ltd for the purpose of Learning about the Belt and Road flagship project Thai-China High Speed Railway that is under construction. This research trip accomplished the specific purposes of learning about the development of China State Construction Engineering Co., Ltd in Thailand, the construction of “Belt and Road” projects, especially the construction of the Thailand-China Railway, through which as a window to understand the specific situation of Chinese enterprises development in emerging market countries, such as Thailand, under the background of “Belt and Road”.


The China-Thailand high-speed railway starts from Bangkok of Thailand in the south, and connects with the China-Laos Railway at the border of Laos of Thailand in the north, forming a direct channel to Kunming, which is the flagship project of the high-quality “One Belt, One Road” jointly built by the two countries, and it will vigorously promote the infrastructure construction and economic and social development of Thailand. The project is not only the first high-speed railroad in Thailand, but also the first high-speed railroad project in the world that uses China’s high-speed railway design standards and is financed by the host country itself. This trip also helps to strengths the tie between AIT BRRC and CSCETH, and better follows up with the updated situation of the Thailand- China High Speed project.
