From October 28 to 31, 2025, The Asian Institute of Technology (AIT), represented by President Prof. Pai-Chi Li and Dr. Wenchao Xue, Director of the Belt and Road Research Center (BRRC), participated in the ANSO General Conference 2025 and the 4th ANSO General Assembly in Beijing. The event gathered scientists, policymakers, and representatives from leading scientific organizations to discuss collaborative strategies for tackling shared challenges in sustainability and innovation. AIT’s presence at this high-level multilateral platform underscores its continued commitment to being at the forefront of international scientific cooperation and its strategic role within the ANSO network since joining as an international organization member in 2020.

AIT has been actively participating in initiatives including joint research projects, visiting fellowships, and student exchange programs funded under the ANSO framework since 2020. The active engagement in the General Conference 2025, particularly discussions on strengthening scientific partnership frameworks, highlighted AIT’s active utilization of ANSO-funded initiatives, including joint research projects on regional environmental challenges, faculty visiting fellowships, and student exchange programs. It provided a valuable opportunity to showcase AIT’s contributions, share outcomes from past collaborations, and align future research agendas with ANSO’s strategic priorities for sustainable development in the Asia-Pacific region.

Looking ahead, AIT aims to deepen its collaborative footprint within the ANSO framework. The insights gained from the General Assembly will inform the development of more robust research consortia and educational programs. This ongoing engagement is pivotal for leveraging collective scientific expertise to address critical issues such as climate change, digital transformation, and resource management, thereby solidifying AIT’s position as a key hub for fostering science and technology diplomacy in the Southeast Asia region.
