4th AIT-BNU Joint Seminar – Sustainable Management of Water Resource and Environment in the Belt and Road Region

On June 26^th 2023 – A delegation from Beijing Normal University (BNU), led by Prof. Hongguang Cheng, Dean and Professor College of Water Sciences, along with Prof. Yongshuo Fu, Vice Dean and Professor, Prof. How Yong Ng, Professor, and Meixuan Li, Foreign Affairs Secretary, paid a visit to the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) on June 26^th. The visit included participation in Seminar on “Sustainable Management of Water Resource and Environment in the Belt and Road Region” which was led by Prof. Shobhakar Dhakal, Vice President for Academic Affairs at AIT, delivered a warm welcome address to the visiting delegation, expressing his enthusiasm for potential collaborative endeavors in the field of water resource management.

The seminar was attended by several distinguished speakers from AIT, led by Dr. Wenchao Xue, Director of AIT Belt and Road Center (AIT BRRC) and Associate Professor in Environmental Engineering and Management, Prof. Thammarat Koottatep, an expert in Environmental Engineering and Management, Dr. Salvatore Virdis, Associate Professor specializing in Remote Sensing and Geographic Information Systems, Dr. Simon Guerrero Cruz, Assistant Professor in Environmental Engineering and Management, and Dr. Loc Ho Huu, Assistant Professor in Water Engineering and Management.

Purpose of Visit:

The purpose of the visit is to foster collaboration, exchange knowledge, explore joint project opportunities, and strengthen academic ties between the visiting party and the two institutes, particularly in the fields of hydrology, water ecology, and environmental engineering.
