The Digital Belt and Road Program (DBAR) initiated in 2016 by the Chinese Academy of Sciences is aiming to improve environmental monitoring, promote data sharing and support policymaking using big data including Earth observation data. With a strong regional collaboration, DBAR has committed to put its research effort on investigating indices and indicators to feed into the United Nations Agenda 2030 and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and deliver an open access data platform for the researchers, policymakers and the public for tracking and studying the development and changes in the Belt and Road Region. On 6 September 2021, Chinese Academy of Sciences inaugurated the International Research Center of Big Data for Sustainable Development Goals (CBAS).
This webinar aims to introduce the recent progress of CBAS and the DBAR program, to present the current achievement and progress of cooperation between China and Thailand on developing and applying big earth data in support of the SDGs. It provides a platform to discuss potential future collaboration opportunities under the digital belt and road scheme to support the sustainable development aspirations of countries in Southeast Asia.
